Chapter 9, Problem 9PC
Program Plan Intro
Word Counter
Program Plan:
The detail of “SumOfDigits” class is shown below:
- In the “main()” method,
- Declare and initialize the required variables.
- Create an object for Scanner class.
- Read the string of digits from user.
- Convert the string into a character array.
- The for loop executes until the array length. If yes,
- Convert an element into a String and then assign it.
- Convert the string into numeric value.
- Calculate the sum.
- Check whether “i” is equal to “0”. If yes, determine the highest and lowest.
- Otherwise, check whether “num” is greater than “highest”. If yes, assign the “num” as highest number.
- Check whether “num” is greater than “lowest”. If yes, assign the “num” as lowest number.
- Display the result of sum, highest, and lowest number.

Question 1
Write a program that declares an array of 100 doubles. The program asks the user to enter a number
N between 100, and then:
initializes the first N elements of the array to random numbers between 1 and 100.
calculates the average of these numbers and displays it.
A final loop displays the elements of the array, each on a line, with an indication as to
whether that number is lower or higher than the average.
For example, if the numbers generated are 5, 28, 3, 8, 15, 7, 22, 6, 1, 4, then the program will print:
Average = 9.9

Your program must have an array of string objects to hold the student names and an array
of int to hold the student scores. Let the teacher determines the number of students and ask
the teacher to enter the information for each student.
Your program should have the following programmer-defined functions:
getInput () - to read the students name and scores from user
getGrade () - to determine the letter grade corresponding to the score
getReport () - to determine the maximum, minimum, average and standard
deviation of the scores
Display an error message if the teacher enter mark below 0 or above 100, and keep asking
for a valid value.
The program should also be capable of…
Ch7 - Arrays java
In a loop, ask the user to enter 10 integer values and store the values in an array. Pass the array to a method. In the method, use a loop to subtract 5 from each element and return the changed array to the main method. In the main method, use a loop to add the array values and display the result.
