Art has been a factor of our life as long as humanity has existed. For thousands of years, art has been created, observed, critiqued, and enjoyed by human beings in many regions across the world. Art aren’t just murals, sculptures, music, books or anything that someone may define as art but more of a bigger picture like if has a deeper meaning such a message or a theme that is looked upon. Art can be viewed at as many different ways in terms of people having different reactions or observing it in a different meaning. Someone could feel that the art work is very extraordinary and unique but someone else can have a different reaction and feel like it is no different than other artworks and have a literalist view upon the art. I assume that people usually see art such as murals like this one without thinking what it really stands for and the purpose it has. In this mural people could see it as a mural with animals and the statue of liberty; nothing more and nothing less. I mean basically it is pretty much that but the way it is displayed on the wall it tends to go with the flow. What I mean by this is that each detail in the mural connects with each other in terms of portraying the message straight forward. Okay well the scene begins on the right side where it displays butterflies flying around a person most likely a Native American woman. Then the bigger picture opens up on the feathers the lady is wearing on her head. The bigger picture starts with historic extinct animals such as the wooly mammoths roaming on the land and Pterodactyls flying on the sky with a clear direction to where they are going. Then the eagle appears on the left side flying towards the Statue of Liberty where the clouds transition to the Statue of Liberty’s hair. The statue is faced towards the left side with a big yellow ball behind her head which is most likely the moon. Then the Statue of Liberty’s hair transitions into waves where right next to it are whales swimming in the …show more content…
Another symbolic image in this mural is the bald eagle. In America, it is also a way of displaying freedom because that is the emblem of our nation. The last main symbol in this mural is the Native American woman because Native Americans were here in the land we call as the United States. They were nomads who traveled throughout the country and even beyond the country since there were no border or a sign displaying if they can pass or not. They were just free to go anywhere with no problem at all. Overall the whole message of this powerful mural is that migrating is natural for the reason that animals and human beings have been migrating since the beginning of time. In other words, they had freedom to migrate from place to place. This message can be connected towards the Latino community because many of them come to America to start a new life where they can have opportunities for themselves and their family. But coming to America, is not allowed without having papers since it is illegal and what Levi Ponce is saying in his mural is that they should come without having a problem because they just want their life change for the
For example, my name is featured and collaged within the artwork. This artwork is busy and therefore, accurately represents me because my mind is constantly filled with thoughts. The portrait outline symbolizes my physical presence as an artist but, shows that the portrait is filled with these smaller images that come together to make me the person that I am. The message of my artwork is about having hope and never giving up. For example, surrounding yourself with internal positive thoughts will bring out the best in you. My identity contrasts with the background (a symbol of the outside world). It is the idea of colour vs. black and white. This colour contrast shows that my identity shines in any circumstance. My artwork represents this message because it demonstrates the qualities of patience and that art is a creative process. It also shows that it may take a few times and/or drafts to create any artwork, but that in the end, it was due to patience and techniques that the final product is
The Virgin of Guadalupe guides me through art and iconography on religious symbols into a love for a colonial nation. Not only a political symbol, she also a very meaningful symbol for people in the entire region, not just in Mexico.
Again, art is a sort of propaganda. It's used to give a message or emotion to a circumstance. Art is also comparative in some prospects, in order to interpret why artists create this work is to look at the past and history. However, it cannot be applied to all works of art. Art is universal, meaning that many respective people can relate to a single work of art. It can also be used as a type of communication between people. Art is apparent within each organized religion. Meaning is sent through the paintings of
What is art? Can it be defined in any single painting, or sculpture? Is it even something that can be seen, or does it have to be experienced? The term "art" is so vague that it can be applied to almost anything, really. Mostly, however, art should be that which frees our imagination. It connects our conscious with our subconscious, putting into a visual form what we feel and think. It allows us to explore our inner self and fill that urge to understand our minds and our universe. Art helps us to see beyond the ordinary, to see what is in our hearts without being blinded by reality. When an artist creates a painting, it is not to create a picture; it is to create a feeling or mood. The purpose is to convey an emotion, and, it is
The Miriam-Webster dictionary has three definitions for the word art. The first is: something that is created with imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings. The second is: works created by artists: paintings, sculptures, etc., that are created to be beautiful or to express important ideas or feelings. And the third is: the methods and skills used for painting, sculpting, drawing, etc. art can be anything you want it to be. In today’s society all forms of art are fully excepted and embraced by the people of the community. Although people have their preferences, I believe there is no such thing as bad art. Like the dictionary states, art can be anything that you use your imagination to create,
In today’s society, people generally tend to only appreciate the things that we see through the media. We see the lives of celebrities and things that are “in” and popular to society and we tend to idealize and glorify such subjects. People also gravitate towards having special interests in subjects that are “common” or that others have interests in as well, but there are plenty of historic subjects that have simply been forgotten over time and aren’t generally an interest to many people anymore, and one of these historic subjects is art. The fascinating thing about art is that it has been around since the first ages of human life.
Art is unique and an artist depicts their work in diverse ways by their equipment as well as textures of their work. There are various brushes, colors, and tools an artist can work with to compose something to their liking. There is no right or wrong way of creating art, it is what the artist wants and is not based on other people’s point of view. If art was meant to please people, at that point, there would be no purpose of having art. Beatrise Garjane and Anita Kairisa demonstrate the importance of art and said it includes visual arts and various forms, styles, genres that have different understandings and interpretations, as well as expressions (Garjane and Kairisa, 2014). When somebody looks at art, they typically grasp something in that artwork that they have not seen in another piece of art
Art is word that most individuals have an idea, a mental category, of yet often fail to truly define. This is due to the fact that art is a term that has existed for thousands of years and thus its meaning and lexicography has changed drastically over the years based on endless factors. Art started off being defined as a craft, measured by the technical prowess of the artist and used as tool in the retelling of history or for religious practices and doctrine. From there, it evolved into a practice of replication, attempting to create the most realistic of images, particularly around the time of the renaissance, with the invention of linear perspective and a growing understanding of human anatomy based on dissection. In the renaissance, the more technically capable an artist is in recreating life, the more talented he is seen to be. However, movements like impressionism, a reaction to the invention of photography, now aimed for, not realism, but the capturing of the impression of the image, using colour and broad brushstrokes, giving pieces an unfinished look. Symbolism and expressionism aimed for a less literal view of the world. In reaction to freud’s interpretation of dreams, surrealism aimed to explore the creative potential of the human psyche, while the modernist movement resulted in art that can be as simple as painting squares on a canvas or signing your name on a urinal. A giant rock, misplaced, is now recognized as art. Erecting a giant curtain on a piece of land
It also makes the audience to be curious about the relationship between the two characters and influence them to watch the film as she is holding a robot’s head, which indicates that she is fighting against them. Grabbing the audience’s attention the most and suggesting that they are the main characters, they are standing in the middle of the poster. What appears to be the Golden Gate Bridge is in the background, giving the audience a clear evidence that the film takes place in the United States. There is also a flag of the United States fading away. As the United State is often associated with power and stability, lost power and stability of the world is suggested in the plot. This is also why lots of natural disaster movies - such as The Day After Tomorrow, Cloverfield, and Godzilla - portray damaged Statue of Liberty to symbolise the
Art is defined as "the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form...producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power." While paintings and sculptures may immediately come to mind when one hears the word "art," they are not the only forms; books, movies, plays, and even buildings are all forms of art. All forms of art can play a significant role in influencing human nature.
Some think art to be a creative expression pleasing or pretty to view. Others think it should match the colors of their furniture, therefore perfect to hang on a nearby wall. There is no real definition of art other than it is an expression of creativity. It is not something we use just to give pleasure but more of an expression of communication between human beings. It is the universal language of the human race. Thus, like all languages it is often misinterpreted. Whether the creative expression is considered to be art is an individual view that cannot be shared by all. It can be something that pleases the senses or on the other end of the curve, shock the senses but all can be art. Shocking the sense in the areas of religion, politics or morality is where our government leaders try to suppress or delete objectionable views in order to protect our
The history of the Statue of Liberty was interesting to me because all I had known about it before was what it symbolized. Eugene Delacroix created the painting Liberty Leading the People, which represented the rebellion of liberal leaders, revolutionaries and columnists after King Charles X collapsed the French legislation and tried to subdue the balloting rights and freedom of the press. In this painting, Delacroix introduced the idea of liberty as a female holding up a French banner, who is confronting tyranny. The Liberty became a symbol of hope and freedom in France; Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi, inspired by Delacroix's champion, honored her by creating a statue of mass size. This was then given to America by France in 1884, as a token of
In fact, this mural is an inspiration for all the Mexicans because it represented the most important events in the Mexican history. Also, this mural symbolizes all the people that fought for a better country in the different stages of the Mexican history. For
Art is all around us; choosing what we wear, how we act, what we think, and what we say. It provides society diversity, and gives life that punch of color it so desperately needs.
Art is one of those creations that has a story and influence society in various ways. It is
